In Face Me, Cha Jung-woo (Lee Min-ki) has been recovering his lost memories, one by one, in hopes of uncovering the real culprit behind the murder of his fiancée, Yoon Hye-jin (Ha-young). His search for answers leads him to a breakthrough when he learns that he had witnessed the true killer seven years ago at the scene of the crime. To unlock more details, Cha Jung-woo begins hypnosis treatment, suggested by Lee Min-hyung, with Lee Jin-seok, a neighbor of the victim, as his subject.
At the time of the murder, Lee Jin-seok was under the influence of drugs and unaware of many things. He had witnessed Cha Jung-woo running away from Yoon Hye-jin’s house. However, in his foggy memory, he initially believed that Cha Jung-woo had been the one chasing the actual murderer who fled. During hypnosis, the truth starts to unfold.
Under hypnosis, Cha Jung-woo begins recalling vivid details of that night. He remembers being at Yoon Hye-jin’s house, where he discovered her lifeless body. As he silently surveyed the scene, Cha Jung-woo sensed someone else was present and immediately began searching. It was then that he discovered the true murderer, who tried to hide his body. Without hesitation, Cha Jung-woo attacked him. The two struggled, and Cha Jung-woo, despite being injured, saw the face of the killer. When the culprit ran away, Cha Jung-woo chased after him. It was at this moment that Lee Jin-Seok, still under the influence of drugs, stumbled upon the scene and witnessed the chase.
However, recalling the face of the real killer triggered a strong negative reaction from Cha Jung-woo. The investigator pointed out that Cha Jung-woo was subconsciously rejecting the memory of seeing the murderer’s face. The rejection further complicates his search for the truth.
Meanwhile, Lee Min-hyung connects the dots between Yoon Hye-jin’s murder and the case involving Nam Ki-tae’s death. The death was originally thought to be a suicide. He believes that if the same killer was responsible for both crimes, the culprit might still be near Cha Jung-woo. The killer could potentially move among those he trusts. This leads Lee Min-hyung to start questioning those closest to Cha Jung-woo, suspecting they might hold critical clues.
