BTS members continue to shine globally with their solo projects. Major international media outlets are naming their songs among the best releases of 2024. From Jimin to RM and Jin, their solo tracks are setting records and earning high praise.
Jimin’s “Who” Creates Massive Impact
Jimin’s title track “Who” from his second solo album MUSE has made a huge mark this year. American music outlet Consequence selected “Who” as the “Biggest Impact” in their 2024 K-pop Yearbook released on the 17th.
The media outlet highlighted Jimin’s achievements, explaining, “It would take all day to list down ‘Who’s’ records. It is the most streamed song on Spotify this year by a K-pop artist, and it has charted on Billboard’s Hot 100 longer than any Korean solo artist in the past decade.” Consequence added, “The shockwaves of Jimin’s work are resonating.” His influence remains unmatched as he continues to break records worldwide.
RM’s “Right Place, Wrong Person” Delivers Unforgettable Tracks
RM’s solo album Right Place, Wrong Person also gained recognition for its impressive tracks. His song “Domodachi” featuring Little Simz and “Neva Play” with Megan Thee Stallion were both named in Consequence’s 200 Best Songs of 2024. The two tracks were ranked at numbers 82 and 115, respectively.
Consequence praised “Domodachi”, quoting Little Simz’s line, “Sims and RM, it doesn’t get any better than this.” For “Neva Play”, they described how the artists “seamlessly immerse themselves in the track while showing off their individual strengths.” RM’s collaboration choices and musical vision continue to impress global listeners.
Additionally, tracks like “Come Back To Me” and “Groin” from the same album received individual praise. American entertainment outlet UPROXX selected “Come Back To Me” as one of the Best Songs of 2024. They admired the song’s thoughtful exploration of “right and wrong” themes, calling it an “impressive and colorful piece that justifies its six-minute length.”
British magazine DAZED also spotlighted RM’s track “Groin” in their 50 Best K-pop Tracks of 2024. They explained that the music video “shows how easily a celebrity’s image can be distorted.” RM’s sharp lyric “I only represent myself” resonates strongly, adding another layer to his artistic narrative.
Jin’s Solo Track “Another Level” Impresses Critics
Jin’s debut solo album Happy also made waves. His track “Another Level” was listed among DAZED’s 50 Best K-pop Tracks of 2024. The magazine described Jin’s voice as “delicate and strong”. They noted how Jin has always provided “light and comfort” to fans but recognized a “new intensity and energy” in this release.
Jin’s emotional yet powerful delivery stands out, showing his growth as a solo artist. His ability to balance softness with strength has earned him critical acclaim.
BTS Solo Projects: Continued Recognition
Earlier this year, outlets like Billboard, Rolling Stone, and NME celebrated RM’s Right Place, Wrong Person as the Best Album of the Year. Meanwhile, Billboard’s The 25 Best K-pop Albums of 2024: Staff Picks recognized Jin’s Happy by giving it a spot.
Each BTS member’s solo work reflects their unique artistry and growth from Jimin’s record-breaking “Who” to RM’s impactful collaborations and Jin’s heartfelt performance in “Another Level”, their music continues to resonate with fans globally. These achievements highlight BTS’s unwavering influence as individuals and as artists pushing creative boundaries.
