Friendly Rivalry Episode 6 Recap: Price of Ambition

Friendly Rivalry Episode 6

In Friendly Rivalry episode 6, Jae-i had been sneaking around. She had searched her father’s office, taken pictures of Seul-gi’s dad’s file, and kept it all hidden. Now, in the present, Seul-gi demanded answers. “Why did you do it?” she asked. Jae-i dodged the question. “That’s too boring to answer.” But Seul-gi wasn’t letting it go.

She accused Jae-i of photocopying her autobiography and spreading it around school. The truth, however, was far different—it was Seul-gi herself who had done it. Now, everyone in school knew her secret. They whispered about her. They asked if she was really an orphan raised in a kindergarten. It was overwhelming. Choi Kyung suggested that Seul-gi should run for the student union. As the squad leader, it made sense. But during their conversation, Kyung hesitated. Then, she revealed something shocking.

“Your dad passed away at J Medical Center,” she said. “My mom was the detective in charge of the case. I read the files.” Seul-gi was speechless. There was more. Kyung explained that Seul-gi’s stepmother had filed a medical lawsuit against Jae-i’s father.

And the most suspicious part? Jae-i’s dad never wanted to go to court. Kyung wondered—was Seul-gi herself a settlement for the case? Was that why Jae-i had always been so kind to her? Seul-gi asked Kyung why she was suddenly being nice to her. “I’m not doing this for you,” Kyung admitted. “I just feel inferior to Jae-i.”

A Deal and a Threat from Jae-i

Desperate Measures: Seul-gi’s Dependence on Medication

At school, everyone was busy booking mock exam papers. The pressure was suffocating. Seul-gi was stressed. She had been relying on medication to stay focused. It helped her stay awake. It kept her stable. She went to a doctor, asking for a prescription. She had hypostatic hyperactivity disorder.

However, the medical test needed for the prescription was too expensive. She tried multiple clinics. They all told her the same thing—she needed to take the test first.

A Risky Deal in the Shadows

Scrolling through social media, Seul-gi noticed something. A certain page caught her attention. Then, a message arrived in her DMs asking for a code. Something about the profile reminded her of a classmate. She remembered a folded paper bird she had from them.

She opened it. Inside was a number. She typed the number into the DM. The reply came quickly. “What do you want?” She typed in the name of the medicine. A response came. “$2,100 after one hour.” A shadowy figure stole medicines somewhere in the dark and went to a park. Seul-gi placed the money in a locker and hid. The figure approached. They placed the medicine inside and turned to leave. But Seul-gi stepped out. She came face to face with Jae-i. Jae-i smirked. “I had a feeling it might be you.” Seul-gi was stunned.

Jae-i continued, “I couldn’t find the exact medicine because it’s peak season. But I got something stronger.” Seul-gi hesitated. “I don’t trust you,” she said. “Take it back.” Jae-i gave her an ultimatum. “If you do better than me on the exams, I’ll tell you where I got your past details,” she said. Then, she handed Seul-gi some notes. “You won’t be able to prepare for exams without my help,” she added, almost teasing.
