Where’s Song Ha-Yoon? Controversy Explained in the Drama

Song Ha-Yoon

History of Scruffiness has officially released its first two episodes on Wave and Watcha. However, discussions have quickly emerged about actress Song Ha-yoon’s absence. Some viewers speculated that her scenes were entirely removed due to past controversies, but the production company has clarified that this is not the case.

On February 26, the production team told Newsen that they could not reveal the exact timing of her appearance. However, they explained that her character enters the story after Bang Min-ah’s role. Since episodes 1 and 2 focused on Bang Min-ah’s character, Song Ha-Yoon did not appear in these initial episodes.

Drama Faces Delayed Release After Cast Controversies

History of Scruffiness is a youth growth comedy based on a popular webtoon of the same name. It follows four twenty-year-old boys navigating love and heartbreak while finding their way in life. The drama was written by webtoon creator Kim Poong, who also contributed to the screenplay.

The main cast includes Jo Byung-gyu, Ryeo-woon, Jung Jae-kwang, Jung Yong-joo, and Bang Min-ah. Song Ha-yoon also plays a significant role, having completed her filming back in 2022. However, controversy struck when both Jo Byung-gyu and Song Ha-yoon faced allegations related to school violence. As a result, the drama’s release was postponed for nearly three years.

Despite the delay, Jo Byung-gyu resumed his acting career in 2023 with The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch. Meanwhile, fans grew concerned about Song Ha-yoon’s role after a teaser trailer revealed that the editors had removed her scenes. This sparked speculation that they might have completely edited her out of the series.

A former classmate claimed that Song Ha-yoon had bullied them in high school. The accuser, referred to as Person A, stated that an incident took place in August 2004, when they were both students. According to Person A, they only recently recognized Song Ha-yoon while watching Marry My Husband and decided to come forward with their claims. They also shared alleged messages and social media interactions related to the accusations.

In response, Song Ha-Yoon denied all allegations. She stated that she never met the accuser, and her agency firmly denied the claims. The agency also mentioned they were considering legal action, including both civil and criminal measures, against those spreading false information.

The production company has now confirmed that she will still appear, but later in the story. However, the exact details of her role remain unclear.
