Nine Puzzles Episode 2 Recap: More Questions, No Answers Yet

Nine Puzzles Episode 2

In the Nine Puzzles episode 2, it opens with I-na heading to meet Han-sam. She wants to share what she found—the second puzzle piece. But he isn’t at home. While trying to remember where she parked her car, she wanders through the parking lot. Then she spots a red car that looks just like hers. Curious, she peeks through the window. What she sees inside is shocking.

There’s a dead woman in the passenger seat.

Later, it’s revealed that the woman is Lee Mi-young, a resident of the building. I-na begins tracing the parcel’s origin. She speaks to the delivery guy, who tells her the package wasn’t delivered normally. He says he got a call asking him to pick it up from the men’s bathroom. That adds to the mystery.

Still searching for answers, I-na visits the police station. She tells Han-sam the second puzzle piece has appeared and the serial killer might be back after ten years. But Han-sam doesn’t trust her. He finds it strange that she once again forgot where she parked. He also questions the timing of everything.

They look for CCTV footage, hoping for clues. But as with the earlier murder, the camera doesn’t cover the exact spot. The killer chose a blind spot again.

Next, the team searches Mi-young’s apartment. It looks normal. No forced entry. No sign of theft. Han-sam can’t stop thinking about I-na’s call to report the murder. He listens to the recording again and again. Then, he visits her therapist, Dr. Lee, to learn more about her mental state. But Dr. Lee doesn’t share anything. Patient confidentiality.

Meanwhile, I-na continues thinking about the second puzzle piece. She tells Han-sam there’s a woman’s face drawn on it. And a woman was murdered soon after she got the piece. The link feels too strong to be a coincidence.

Investigation Deepens

Han-sam visits the whiskey bar where Mi-young spent her last evening. The bartender shares that Mi-young talked with a customer for a long time. Han-sam checks her phone records. The last call she made was to Hogun, his senior. When questioned, Hogun claims he only called to reserve a seat but never went to the bar. Han-sam isn’t convinced. He asks Hogun to give an official statement.

Talking again to the bartender, Han-sam learns more. She confirms Hogun didn’t show up that night. But she remembers another man. He often came with Hogun. He might have been the final customer.

Separately, I-na talks to the chief, trying to understand Mi-young’s background. She asks how Mi-young is related to her uncle. Things start getting tangled. Jung-ho tells Han-sam they all went to that whiskey bar for a celebration. But not everyone was there the night of the murder. Han-sam begins narrowing down the list of police officers who could’ve been involved.

I-na sketches the puzzle piece again. She’s trying to decode the drawing. She’s hoping it holds a clue.

Meanwhile, news breaks out. Rumors say the police and judiciary took favors from Mi-young. This stirs tension within the team. The chief wants the case closed fast. Pressure is building.

Later, the bartender finds something new. While cleaning, she sees a bottle of whiskey reserved under a name—Tae Dong-su. He’s from Seoul’s regional investigation team. Han-sam visits him. Dong-su claims he had a few drinks and left. Nothing suspicious, he says. But the timing feels off.

Just as things start connecting, Sergeant Nam calls Han-sam. She says she saw Mi-young’s car at a red light and wonders if it was a murder. Before Han-sam can ask more, she hangs up.

Then another clue drops. Jong-hu tells Han-sam that someone took Mi-young’s resident card from her wallet. Small detail, but could mean a lot.

I-na keeps digging. She tries to understand if the two murders are linked beyond the puzzle pieces. She wants to find a pattern. A reason.

Later, she returns home. Her housekeeper is asleep. But as she steps inside, a memory hits her. It’s from ten years ago. A murder. Her mind goes blank. Then slowly, a face appears in her memory. She remembers someone was there that day.

The episode ends without answers. Just more layers. The case is growing colder, but the puzzle is getting clearer.

The plot keeps shifting, pulling in more people, more clues, and more mystery. It’s not just about the killings now. It’s about trust, past trauma, and hidden truths. Episode 2 doesn’t give solutions. But it makes you look closer.
