Friendly Rivalry Episode 8 Recap: The Twist You WON’T See Coming!

Friendly Rivalry Episode 8

In Friendly Rivalry episode 8, it took an intense turn as secrets surfaced, relationships shifted, and unexpected events unfolded. From unsettling dreams to shocking discoveries, the latest episode kept viewers intrigued at every step.

Seul-gi confronted Jae-i about why her personal information was in Jae-i’s possession. Jae-i revealed that she had seen it in her father’s office but had no idea he was collecting so much data about Seul-gi’s dad. She wanted to say more, but instead congratulated Seul-gi before walking away.

Later, Seul-gi underwent an inspection under anesthesia, where she relived a memory from her childhood—getting lost on an island and calling for her father. In the dream, Jae-i appeared, helping her and walking by her side.

This dream sequence is more than a memory; it’s potent symbolism. Jae-i’s appearance in Seul-gi’s childhood trauma solidifies their now-intertwined fates.

It suggests that Jae-i isn’t just a rival in the present, but has become a key figure in Seul-gi’s past psychological landscape, hinting that their connection—and the secret between their fathers—runs deeper than either girl realized.

Meanwhile, all the girls were still under the effects of anesthesia, but Jae-i woke up just in time to see a girl tampering with Seul-gi’s hand bandage. Before Jae-i could react, the girl disappeared—it was Ye-ri.

A Festival Filled With Hidden Agendas

The school anniversary fair brought excitement, but Seul-gi was still feeling dizzy. Despite this, she and Jae-i managed to enjoy their time together, even sharing some lighthearted moments.

Byeong-jin was also present, and things seemed normal—until Ye-ri’s actions in the background hinted otherwise.

Inside the bathroom, Ye-ri was secretly trying to unlock Seul-gi’s dad’s phone, which she had stolen from the medical center while Seul-gi was unconscious.

To do this, she had removed the bandage containing the locker’s key. At the same time, Beom-su, heavily drugged due to overstudying, was acting erratically, drinking tap water repeatedly.

Ye-ri struggled to find a charger for the phone, but before she could continue, she received a call from a junior inviting her to the friendship booth. Ah-ra, suspicious of Ye-ri, observed her closely and passed information to Jae-i.

As the school festival continued, parents joined in, serving food at different stalls. Seul-gi and Jae-i visited Choi Kyung’s mother’s stall to grab a meal.

Meanwhile, Choi Kyung was looking for Seul-gi, but Ye-ri managed to drag her to the friendship booth. There, Byeong-jin handed Choi Kyung a patch and asked her to tell Seul-gi that he had recommended it.

Seul-gi and Jae-i shared a moment in the ball area. Seul-gi admitted that she still couldn’t fully trust Jae-i, but was happy they achieved first place together.

The Truth Begins to Surface

Ye-ri finally managed to charge the stolen phone. Shortly after, she secretly met Jae-i’s dad, Tae Jun, for the device in exchange for more money. She assured him she would contact him again. Unbeknownst to them, Ah-Ra hid behind a tree, taking photos of the meeting.

At the same time, in the chemistry lab, Beom-su was desperately searching for a charger when she noticed a figure entering the room. Meanwhile, Ah-ra sent the photo of Ye-ri and Jae-i’s dad to Jae-i, who was shocked by what she saw and rushed to find Seul-gi.

Choi Kyung finally managed to talk to Seul-gi and informed her that her dad’s phone was missing. With Ah-ra’s information, Jae-i retrieved the phone from the friendship booth and unlocked it using Seul-gi’s birthdate.

What she found inside was shocking—messages showing Seul-gi’s dad being blackmailed by Jae-i’s dad, Tae Jun, over his relationship with Jena.

The discovery of the blackmail is the linchpin of the entire series. It directly connects the personal rivalry between Seul-gi and Jae-i to the corrupt actions of their fathers.

This elevates the conflict from a personal struggle for top rank to a moral battle for truth and justice, forcing Jae-i to choose between her family and what is right.

A Terrifying Confrontation

Beom-su, still heavily drugged, approached Jae-i’s dad and revealed that she had seen Jena, who looked weak. This angered Ye-ri, who pushed Beom-su to the ground.

But Beom-su, furious, pulled out a knife and accused Ye-ri of lying to her. Ye-ri, trying to distract her, blurted out that Jae-i had a crush on Beom-su. The revelation only fueled Beom-su’s rage, and she lunged toward Seul-gi.

Meanwhile, in the print room, Jae-i was alone when the same mysterious figure entered. At the same time, Beom-su attacked Seul-gi, slashing her shoulder with a knife.

As the tension peaked, the masked figure finally removed their disguise. It was Jena—Jae-i’s elder sister.
