Genie, Make A Wish Episode 11 Recap: Iblis Faces His Past and Ka Young’s Fate

Genie, Make A Wish Episode 11 (7)

In Genie, Make A Wish Episode 11, it goes deep into Iblis’s past. It opened 983 years ago. Iblis laughs, saying it has been 20 years since an 8-year-old asked for punishment. Yet, the punishment never came.

While walking through the old market of Dubai, he smells something familiar. It’s Ka Young’s scent. He gets confused. She was supposed to be dead. How can she be alive?

He finds her selling dates. Her face is rough and marked by hound bites. She doesn’t know who he is. Her memory is gone. She lives a simple life now. She sells dates and gives some to the poor.

Iblis watches her. She looks different but kind. She compliments his smile. He smiles back for the first time in years. Ka Young dreams of going back to Goryeo and plans to buy a camel for the trip.

But her dream gets shattered when some goons attack her. They steal her money and beat her. Iblis steps in. He kills the man easily. Ka Young gets scared. She thinks he is not a genie but a monster. She yells at him to go away.

He tries to explain that he wants to help her return home. She refuses to listen. Her fear takes over.

A Story of Fate and Choices

Ka Young still stays kind. She helps Khalid by giving him herbs for his cough. Iblis realizes Khalid is half-human and half-genie. He is the son of Shadi. Khalid offers him a deal. He gives him a thread that binds souls and asks Iblis to leave this cursed land. Iblis does not accept.

Later, he takes Ka Young into his lamp. Inside, she works on her hanbok for the Goryeo trip. She talks about Goryeo’s seasons. He listens with real interest. When she looks at the moon, he watches her quietly. It’s a peaceful moment between them.

That night, Iblis sends his wishes to the sky. Ka Young grows emotional. She doesn’t know why, but his eyes feel familiar.

In another scene, Iblis secretly steals a feather from Ejieal. He uses it to write on the lamp’s pillars. He writes about Ka Young and their conversations. His heart feels lighter.

Then, a glow surrounds him. A new master has summoned him. A man appears. He reminds Iblis that they met before. He once cursed Iblis to live as a poor Arab migrant for two decades.

The man was a merchant whom Iblis once intended to kill but he survived somehow. He had wished to be richer than anyone else. Iblis made it happen.

But his second wish destroyed lives. The merchant had wished for the power to kill anyone who hurt him. Soon, people started dying everywhere.

Years later, this same merchant finds Ka Young. He remembers how she once gave him dates when he was poor. He tries to repay her kindness, but she refuses. She wants to earn her own living. His pride breaks. He insults her for being too proud.

The Curse of Love

Ka Young wears her new hanbok and shows it to Iblis. For a moment, there’s warmth. Then, Iblis starts glowing again. It means his current master, Muttaib, has made the final wish. Muttaib’s last wish shocks Iblis.

He wishes for Ka Young. He wants her to submit to him. Iblis freezes. Muttaib’s men attack her. Iblis fights them in rage. Khalid appears and traps Iblis with the soul-binding thread because Iblis refused his request earlier.

Ka Young sees the rug Khalid used and realizes who he is. He is not Hunbish. He is Khalid. Muttaib loses control and kills Ka Young with his sword. He doesn’t want anyone else to have her.

Iblis screams in pain. He is still tied, but she falls into his arms. She looks at him one last time. Ka Young tells him that in Goryeo, souls live four lives. She asks him to find her again. Then, she dies.

Thread of Fate

Iblis cries out and begs people to use the lamp’s first wish to save her. But greed wins. One man wishes for wealth. Iblis fulfills it. The man asks for more gold in his second wish. Iblis grants it again. The third wish makes the entire city turn into gold.

Ka Young’s body lies still in his arms. Her hand loosens the thread binding him. It’s the string of fate. It breaks, but it also connects them forever. That’s why she was born again three more times.

Iblis weeps. The gold starts raining. This is the same gold rain mentioned in earlier episodes—the wrath of Iblis. When he calms down, he pulls out his sword and kills Muttaib. Sandstorms rise. He carries Ka Young in his arms and walks away. This becomes his final punishment.

Later, Hanbish appears and tells Iblis the truth. He asks Iblis to protect Ka Young in her next life.

The final scene shifts to the village. Seong Nim stirs chaos by shouting that Mi Ju is Pan Geum. Villagers rush to Ka Young’s house. Pan Geum hides in Min Ji’s car. Khalid’s men hit Seong Nim, and she faints. The man who caused the scene reports Ka Young’s address.

Why This Flashback Changes Everything:

  • The Golden Rain Explained: We now know the golden rain wasn’t a random act of wrath, but the direct, tragic consequence of Iblis’s grief over Ka Young’s body. It literalizes the phrase “crying tears of gold.”

  • Iblis’s Motivation: His actions in the present-day storyline are no longer those of a simple vengeful genie. He is a tragic figure operating on a millennia-old promise and a burden of guilt.

  • The Stakes for Mi Ju/Ka Young: The threat of Khalid and the mystery of Pan Geum are now infused with the weight of this ancient, unresolved conflict. The past is not past; it’s actively repeating.
