Episode 3 of When the Stars Gossip begins with the crew sitting down for a meal on the space station. Ryong skips the group dinner and stays in his room. He looks at a photo of Go-eun but can’t stop thinking about Eve. As expected, Eve appears and convinces him to join everyone for food.
The team has their little bonding moment while watching the lottery numbers. But Kang-su quietly slips away for his secret insemination mission. Back on Earth, Go-eun meets her father. She begs him to let Ryong continue his job. Jae-ryong refuses and stays busy watching the same lottery broadcast.
Jae-ryong also learns about the artificial insemination process from his colleague. Meanwhile, Kang-su updates the Chairman about his progress. He says seven out of ten inseminations are done and promises to finish soon. But Ryong interrupts him mid-mission.
Ryong is still new on the station and learns that Kang-su and Eve are heading out for a spacewalk. Eve explains the risk and says every astronaut writes a will before going out. Ryong is worried for Eve but not for Kang-su. His reaction is funny and honest.
Kang-su then receives a call from Go-eun, who is angry about the egg project. She calls him names, but he doesn’t care. He just compliments her looks.
One of the astronauts, Mina Lee, discovers a winning lottery ticket worth 500 billion won. She dreams of what she could do with the money. But reality soon calls them back to duty.
A Spacewalk Turns Into a Nightmare
Ryong talks to his friend on Earth and plans something risky. He wants to get access to the cryogenic freezer and steal the eggs. His plan involves running on a treadmill until the system overloads, cutting power, and unlocking the freezer. He plans to do this while Kang-su and Eve are outside fixing the solar panel.
While waiting for the right time, Ryong asks Eve to write a will too. She agrees and also shares happy news — the fruit flies on board are pregnant. They both promise to keep it secret from Kang-su. Their small talk feels natural and funny.
During the 141st spacewalk, Eve and Kang-su go out to fix the solar panel. Ryong begins his plan and shuts down the power. He sneaks into the storage area and hides the eggs among the flowers. That’s when he finds Mina’s hidden lottery ticket.
He rushes back just before the others return. Mission Control scolds him for nearly causing a fire. Eve defends him.
But the mood quickly changes when Kang-su faces a suit malfunction and returns early, leaving Eve outside. Eve loses her grip and gets tangled in the solar panel. The tension is high as she struggles to control her spinning body.
Her glove tears, and she starts losing pressure. Seung-jun wants to help her, but the airlock procedures take time. Eve’s breathing slows, and she starts to pass out.
Risk, Rescue, and Reality Collide in Episode 4
Episode 4 continues the chaos. Eve is in danger, floating outside with little oxygen. Viewers learn about her past. Her adoptive father was an astronaut who died while saving another. Before leaving for that final mission, he told Eve that every life form is a miracle.
Eve’s will isn’t a traditional will. It’s more like a list of tasks for Ryong. He follows each one but is told not to interfere in the spacewalk. Yet, when he sees Eve struggling, he can’t just watch. Against orders, he puts on a suit and heads out. He skips the decompression stage, risking his life.
He struggles to move properly in the suit. Eve, barely conscious, helps him navigate. He untangles the cable and saves her. Both are pulled back in safely, but Ryong loses consciousness due to a lack of oxygen.
Back on Earth, the Chairman receives word that the insemination process was successful. He hopes for more than three fertilized eggs. Na Min-jeong is heartbroken but stands her ground.
She tells the Chairman she will leave once the baby is born. She blames him for Dong-hun’s unhappy life and tragic death. Jae-ryong doesn’t care and fires her instead.
Meanwhile, Go-eun shocks everyone by announcing her marriage to Ryong publicly. Her words make headlines. Ryong’s family celebrates, while others react with mixed emotions.
Ryong’s Drunken Confession and Human Emotions in Space
At the station, Ryong and Eve finally wake up after oxygen treatment. Ryong learns about Go-eun’s marriage statement and is speechless. The IOU holds an emergency meeting to discuss the space incident.
Eve meets Ryong and scolds him. She’s angry that he disobeyed orders and risked both their lives. She asks him to stay away. Her emotions are messy — part anger, part confusion.
Ryong faces possible punishment from the IOU for breaking protocol. Kang-su mocks him, bragging about completing the insemination task. Ryong feels crushed and isolates himself.
Santi and Seung-jun, however, don’t abandon him. Santi secretly shares the alcohol he smuggled in a book, saying the team still has his back. It’s a small but touching moment of friendship.
Mina later calls Dona about the lottery ticket. Ryong advises her not to return it, smiling slyly. He believes she should keep it.
In a funny yet emotional ending, a drunk Ryong visits Eve’s cabin. He wants her to thank him. He ignores her serious questions and confesses that he likes her.
When the Stars Gossip continues to mix science, love, and chaos in space. Episode 3 and 4 show that no matter how far humans go, emotions and choices follow. The characters make mistakes, fall, and still try again — just like real people.
