You and Everything Else is a nuanced K-drama exploring grief, memory, and complicated relationships. The story revolves around a love triangle: Eun-jung (the girlfriend, steady and present), Sang-hak (the boyfriend, kind but conflicted), and Sang-yeon (his childhood friend, grieving her brother’s death).
Central to the plot is a mysterious old internet chatroom and a missing woman named “Dylan,” whom Sang-yeon believes is connected to her brother’s past. This recap contains spoilers for Episode 6.
You and Everything Else Episode 6, Sang-yeon sits with Sang-hak and pushes for answers. He finally admits he knows the girl from the photo. She was part of their photo club and they called her Dylan. He agrees to reach out to her.
At home, Eun-jung checks in on Sang-yeon. The attempt falls flat. Sang-yeon stays distant, still bitter about Eun-jung’s closeness with Sang-hak. Eun-jung worries she never really knew the side of them that existed before her.
Sang-hak later drops off two VHS tapes for Sang-yeon. They are the same ones that inspired their chatroom usernames. She confesses that she once searched for him and secretly took his picture at a gallery. The moment hangs heavy between them.
This isn’t just a confession; it’s a power shift. Sang-yeon, who has felt powerless since her brother’s death, reveals she has been an active observer in Sang-hak’s life.
The photograph symbolizes her frozen memory and her desire to capture and hold onto a past he has moved on from.
Sang-yeon tells him she doesn’t need his kindness. She wants something deeper, even though she knows it’s impossible. Meanwhile, Eun-jung’s friend A-ra teases her for trusting her boyfriend and not getting jealous about his history with Sang-yeon.
Sang-yeon tells Sang-hak to keep the chatroom talks between them. She wants the Dylan search kept quiet too. This forces him into a corner. He doesn’t want to lie to Eun-jung, but that’s exactly where this is headed.
A Growing Rift Between Love and Loyalty
Eun-jung stays clueless as her relationship with Sang-hak looks steady on the surface. She even buys him camera parts. But he tells her he can’t bring anything except watches into his base.
Coincidentally, Sang-yeon gives him a watch. It’s small, but it shows how carefully she thinks things through.
While Eun-jung is away at a memorial, Sang-hak runs into Sang-yeon on the street. They go together to meet someone who once knew her brother Cheon Sang-hak.
They drink, talk, and share stories, though they gain little new information about Dylan.
That night, Sang-yeon says her brother planned his death. She thinks the tapes were meant for Sang-hak and the camera was meant for Eun-jung. It hurts her that Eun-jung mattered more to him than she did.
When Sang-hak walks her home, she hints she likes him. He tells her she shouldn’t. Still, she thanks him for pulling her out of her dark place back then.
Sang-yeon soon has a blind date. Eun-jung tells Sang-hak that Sang-yeon once had a first love from the chatroom. He knows it was him. He smiles faintly.
Through all this, Sang-hak keeps his word and stays silent about what Sang-yeon told him. But he can’t ignore the growing truth—her feelings for him run deeper than he wanted to admit.
He leaves her a note under his old username, “Uncle Tat,” along with some old photos of her brother. Sang-yeon keeps thinking about him as her date approaches.
The date goes badly. Her mind drifts back to her brother and Uncle Tat. She writes him a letter at the base, just as Eun-jung does.
Eun-jung notices a letter sticking out of Sang-yeon’s post box and realizes Sang-hak has been writing to her. The discovery stuns her. Back home, things turn tense when she brings it up. Sang-yeon brushes it off as “a favor.”
Sang-yeon keeps chasing Dylan. She finds out her real name is Moon Ji-yeong. She wants to talk to Sang-hak before contacting her. That’s bound to cause problems.
Eun-jung starts feeling uneasy. She believes Sang-hak and Sang-yeon are crossing the line. She stops visiting her boyfriend and ignores his calls. When he finally gets through, she admits she feels uncomfortable with their secrets.
Sang-hak is torn. He wants to honor his promise to Sang-yeon, but he also knows Eun-jung has a right to the truth. Eun-jung cuts the call short and says he can reach out again if he wants.
She decides to bury the letter incident and never speak of it again. But the issue resurfaces when she visits the camera shop.
There, she learns the full story of Sang-hak and Sang-yeon’s past connection and chatroom history. She returns home, angry, and asks Sang-yeon directly if she likes Sang-hak.
Ending
The ending sets the stage for confrontation. This chapter builds their tension like slow fire.
The bond between Sang-hak and Sang-yeon deepens, while Eun-jung watches their closeness from the outside. She feels excluded, and her trust begins to crack.
