The 2024 SBS Drama Awards celebrated a night of outstanding talent, with actress Jang Nara achieving a career milestone. Held at the SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong, Seoul, on December 21, the event highlighted the year’s best performances and productions in television drama.
Jang Nara’s Grand Achievement
Jang Nara was honored with the Grand Prize (Daesang) for her role in Good Partner. This marks her first Grand Prize win in 23 years since her debut. Despite receiving accolades such as the KBS and MBC Music Awards back in 2002, this is her first top honor at the SBS Drama Awards.
Accepting the award, Jang Nara expressed deep gratitude and emotion. “I can’t believe it, and I don’t know what to say,” she said, tearfully addressing the audience. She credited her co-star Nam Ji-hyun, her family, and her husband for their unwavering support. Reflecting on her long career, she added, “As I’ve grown older, I’ve realized what a miracle it is that people continue to watch and love my work.”
The Success of Good Partner
Good Partner has been a standout drama for SBS this year. It earned the highest viewership rating of 17.7% nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea. The series follows Cha Eun-kyung (played by Jang Nara), a renowned divorce lawyer. It also follows Han Yu-ri (played by Nam Ji-hyun), a rookie lawyer navigating her first divorce case. The drama’s unique premise and compelling performances captured the hearts of viewers.
Park Shin-Hye’s Recognition
Another notable highlight of the night was Park Shin-hye receiving the Director’s Award for her performance in The Judge From Hell. She thanked writer Jo Yi-soo and director Park Jin-pyo for their dedication and praised her co-star Kim Jae-young for his support. Reflecting on her career, Park Shin-hye noted the journey from winning a New Child Actor Award 21 years ago to achieving such recognition as a seasoned actress today.
