In Idol I Episodes 3-4, it starts with a quick flashback. Ra-ik is lying drunk on the road. A police officer finds him and calls Se-na.
Se-na shows up with her friend Park Chung-jae. He’s a private investigator. Park teases Se-na about using safety as an excuse to be near her idol. Se-na says Ra-ik has nowhere to go. She takes him to her place.
Ra-ik wakes up the next morning. He sees Se-na holding a knife. He freaks out and runs away. Se-na tries to calm him down, but he leaves anyway.
Se-na feels upset about this. She goes back to work to focus on the case. She visits Gold Entertainment to meet the CEO. He tells her the contract termination rumors are fake. They spread the news to calm down investors.
Se-na then meets the other Gold Boys members. Choi Joon-hee accuses Ra-ik of killing Woo-sung. He shows her a video of Ra-ik fighting with Woo-sung. This happened days before Woo-sung died. Se-na feels more confused now.
Ra-ik confronts the CEO later. The CEO says Ra-ik needs to prove he’s innocent himself. He also drops bad news. Ra-ik’s house and car got seized. His mother took loans in his name and didn’t pay them back.
Ra-ik’s mother is also doing interviews for money. Se-na meets her and warns her to stop. She threatens to sue her if she continues.
Ra-ik has nowhere to stay now. He walks around the streets. Some teenagers recognize him. They know he’s accused of murder. They beat him up and steal his expensive shoes.
Se-na uses a GPS tracker to find him. Park Chung-jae helps her. They run into the teenagers and get the shoes back. Se-na finds Ra-ik sitting on the pavement. He’s protecting his head with his hands.
Ra-ik opens up to Se-na. He says there’s a voice in his head. It tells him to end everything. He feels stupid for not listening to it. Se-na understands how much pain he’s in. She promises to believe him. She says she’ll stay with him and prove his innocence.
Se-na tells him to fight back. She wants justice for his friend. Ra-ik agrees. He goes back home with her.
Ra-ik Opens Up About His Childhood
At Se-na’s house, Ra-ik talks about his past. His mother worked as a bar singer. He started singing after watching her perform. The CEO of Gold Entertainment heard him sing one day. His mother pushed him to sing for money.
Ra-ik’s childhood was tough. He performed in sketchy places as a kid. Then he met Woo-sung during trainee days. They weren’t close at first. But Woo-sung always looked out for him.
They went through hard times together. They faced bullying and difficult training & they became best friends. Ra-ik’s life felt okay because of Woo-sung and the group.
Things changed when Ra-ik went solo. He felt lonely and anxious. He started depending on medication to cope.
About the video Joon-hee showed, Ra-ik says it was just a small fight. On the night Woo-sung died, they drank and talked about music. That’s all.
Ra-ik tells Se-na he wants to remember that night. He commits to helping with the investigation. The next day, they attend Woo-sung’s funeral.
Ra-ik hesitates at first. He’s scared to face everyone. Se-na encourages him to go. Everyone is shocked when he shows up. Later, reporters surround him with questions. Ra-ik says he’ll cooperate with authorities. He wants to find the truth.
They meet Prosecutor Kwak after that. He questions Ra-ik about leaving the house that night. Ra-ik says he went out to buy drinks. Kwak keeps pushing him. Se-na steps in and says the accusations are just guesses.
Outside, Se-na confronts Ra-ik. She knows he’s hiding something. He denies it. But his face turns red. She points out that he’s lying.
A woman suddenly calls Ra-ik’s name. She hugs him. Se-na recognizes her as Hong Hye-ju. She remembers an old dating rumor about them. Seeing them together makes Se-na uncomfortable. She notices someone taking photos. She takes them to a private spot.
Ra-ik tells Hye-ju to stop calling him. He doesn’t want her involved in the case. Hye-ju says she saw Joon-hee near his house on the day of the murder. Ra-ik looks alarmed. He asks Se-na to take Hye-ju home. Then he rushes off.
The Investigation Gets Complicated
Ra-ik confronts Joon-hee about being at his house. They argue until the manager stops them.
Photos of Ra-ik and Hye-ju hugging get published. Ra-ik is furious. He confronts the journalist who took them. He threatens him to leave Hye-ju alone. Se-na calms him down. She threatens to take legal action against the journalist.
Se-na tells Ra-ik he needs to be honest. He finally admits the truth. Hye-ju came back from abroad recently. He’s been ignoring her. He and Woo-sung fought about this.
On the day of the murder, Ra-ik ended things with Hye-ju. Later he drank with Woo-sung all night. He asks Se-na to keep Hye-ju out of this.
Hye-ju sets up a fake blind date with Prosecutor Kwak. She wants to learn about the investigation. Kwak finds out about her connection to the case. He calls her in. She tells him about seeing Joon-hee near Ra-ik’s house. This expands the investigation.
Se-na talks to Park Chung-jae. She admits feeling hurt. She feels deceived seeing Ra-ik and Hye-ju together, & she feels out of place.
A Sudden Crash Changes Everything
Later, Se-na submits dashcam footage to the prosecutor. She argues that Ra-ik and Hye-ju’s meeting has nothing to do with the murder. She asks to exclude Hye-ju from the investigation.
Outside, Ra-ik hugs Se-na. He thanks her for everything. Se-na freezes in surprise. Prosecutor Kwak approaches them. He recognizes Se-na as his former classmate. Ra-ik shields her. Se-na asks him to wait in the car. Ra-ik looks surprised.
Kwak tries to talk about their past. Se-na shuts him down. She asks him to focus on the case. In the car, Ra-ik asks about her relationship with Kwak and Park.
He mentions Kwak as her ex. Se-na snaps. She says she would never date someone like Kwak. School memories still haunt her.
Suddenly, Se-na realizes something is wrong. The car is out of control. It swerves violently. Then it crashes off the road. Episode 4 ends here.
The episodes leave viewers with many questions. Who tampered with the car? What really happened the night Woo-sung died? How will Ra-ik and Se-na survive this crash? The investigation just got a lot more dangerous.
