In Moon River Episode 2, things turned more emotional and complicated for both Lee Kang and Park Dal-i. The story started with danger and identity confusion, slowly revealing how their lives were linked by pain and memory.
Park Hong-nan saved the Crown Princess after she fell into the frozen river. The Crown Princess had been ordered by the King to die for the Crown Prince.
After losing her memory, Park Hong-nan lied and gave her a new name — Park Dal. Believing she was just a common woman, the former princess started living as a peddler.
At the same time, Kim Han-cheol presented a body to Lee Kang, claiming it was the Crown Princess. Lee Kang was shaken when he saw the jade ring on the hand. He couldn’t stop the tears. That ring reminded him of someone he once lost deeply.
Lee Kang, now living in hardship, had only one thought in mind — revenge. He planned to destroy Kim Han-cheol, the man behind the Gyesa Incident that changed his fate. He thought, “An arrow fired cannot return.” His heart was filled with regret and anger.
Later, he met Park Dal-i again. She fell right into his arms. For a second, their eyes met, and memories flashed back to him. But confusion took over, and he pushed her away. Lee Woon introduced her as his cousin, trying to ease the tension.
Still, Lee Kang couldn’t believe what he saw.
A Meeting That Changed Everything
Park Dal-i was sent to Hanyang by Heo Yeong-gam to save his daughter, who was forced to die after losing her husband. During this journey, Dal-i’s path crossed with Lee Kang again.
She tried to help a widow escape but got caught. The servants seized her, and just when things looked hopeless, Lee Woon came to her rescue. He told her to run.
As she tried to flee, Lee Kang blocked her way. He looked at her with disbelief, as if seeing a ghost from his past. She offered him money to let her go. He asked, “Then what about Chunhyang, the symbol of virtue?”
Dal-i calmly replied, “Chunhyang didn’t protect her virtue. She protected herself.” Those words hit Lee Kang hard. They reminded him of Bin-gung, the woman he once loved, who also chose dignity over blind loyalty.
Lee Kang then asked Dal-i a strange question — “Do you know what happens if you catch a falling flower petal?” She didn’t answer. Instead, she walked away. His curiosity about her only grew stronger.
Meanwhile, Dal-i started a rumor that building a false monument for a chaste woman would raise taxes. She wanted to stop the corruption. This led to chaos in Hanyang.
Just when Lee Kang was about to handle the issue, she appeared again, leading the townspeople. Yoon Se-dol tricked Lee Kang by pretending to be a royal inspector, making things even messier.
Lee Kang later confronted Dal-i again, asking her the same question about the flower petal. This time, as snow started to fall, Dal-i smiled and said thank you.
Lee Kang saw his late wife in her face. His eyes filled with tears. Dal-i reached out and wiped them away, shocked by her own action.
She then offered to buy him soup. He looked surprised but agreed. It was a small moment, yet it showed something had changed between them. The coldness between them began to soften.
Love, Politics, and Choices
Kim Han-cheol, hearing of Lee Kang’s involvement in the case, became nervous. He wanted to control Lee Kang through marriage. He ordered his daughter, Kim Woo-hee, to marry him. But Woo-hee’s heart already belonged to Lee Woon. She didn’t follow her father’s order and refused to move.
Woo-hee remembered the promise Lee Woon made — that he would always hold her hands, no matter what. Their quiet love stood in contrast to all the lies and power struggles around them.
Elsewhere, Dal-i prepared to meet her parents. She told them to come to her the next day. She knew they were court servants and wanted them safe. That night, she left home quietly, her heart heavy but determined.
Before leaving, she visited Mrs. Heo one last time to say goodbye. Then she ran into Lee Woon again. He told her to come to his house after having noodles.
Later, at the noodle shop, Lee Kang waited with Yoon Se-dol. Dal-i’s parents also arrived, searching for her. The moment became chaotic when everyone realized each other’s identities.
Dal-i’s mother recognized Lee Kang and whispered, “What kind of gentleman sits beside a eunuch?” The truth was slowly breaking through the surface. Secrets were being exposed one by one.
The Kim family, desperate to keep their power, framed Dal-i for false crimes. She was sentenced harshly, even threatened with mutilation. Just before she faced punishment, Lee Kang appeared again.
He freed her from the guards. When Dal-i asked why, he said gently, “Didn’t we promise to have noodles?”
That simple line carried everything he couldn’t say — regret, affection, and the bond forming again between them.
Episode 2 of Moon River showed how memories can twist fate. Lee Kang struggled with guilt, anger, and longing. Park Dal-i tried to survive, unaware of her true past.
Between lies and duty, a strange connection kept pulling them back together. The story mixed pain with quiet warmth, showing that even in chaos, kindness still finds a way.
