In The Manipulated Episodes 7-8, some shows love to go wild, but The Manipulated really goes for it. The story just throws you all over the place, in a good way. Suddenly, prison breaks aren’t shocking anymore, and bombs explode just because people don’t talk.
There’s always someone sneaking out or hunting someone down. The story is straight-up obsessed with double-crosses and secrets. If you blink, you’ll miss three plot twists and probably a dead lawyer.
Taejoong kicks things off by busting out of jail. Yohan nearly gets him, but nope, Taejoong just ducks away. This guy is slippery like soap on a rainy day. Of course, you know he’s heading right to Mr Noh’s place.
And because it’s The Manipulated, Mr Noh actually welcomes him, gives him a phone, and plans like he’s prepping for a heist with extra snacks.
Taejoong Finds the Red Envelope
Soon, Taejoong goes after attorney Kim Sangrak. He finds Kim late in his office (never working overtime in K-dramas, it’s always a bad sign). Taejoong wants answers about who set him up.
The lawyer isn’t talking. So, as usual, Taejoong just makes a huge mess. After some chaos, he digs up a weird red envelope. It’s packed with files about So Hyeon-jung.
Kim says she’s up next as the show’s favorite target for their “sculpting project.” Basically, they like to build fake cases by planting fake evidence on completely random people. If you sneeze wrong in this universe, someone’s blaming you for a crime.
Here comes Woo Bin-nam, who doesn’t even bother saying hi. He tries to jab Taejoong with something totally suspicious. Taejoong, doing his best action hero impression, escapes.
The doctor just drops a bomb (no, really) and bounces. The lawyer? Not so lucky. But Taejoong saves the red envelope. Yohan is busy piecing everything together, running after Woo, and when he finally finds him, it gets brutal.
Yohan cuts his head off, which is kind of extreme, even for this show. Yohan’s beheading of Woo Bin-nam isn’t just shock value. It’s a crucial character reveal. It shows he’s not just a calculating strategist.
He’s capable of primal, unrestrained violence when his plans are threatened. This moves him from ‘rival’ to a genuinely unpredictable and terrifying force.
Spy Games Begin
Meanwhile, Hwang II-guk strolls out of jail with bail. Yohan gives him a new job: go find Taejoong, but pretend it’s just hanging out. Now there are more layers, like a cake, but with way more tracking devices and lies.
Taejoong spills the tea for Mr Noh, explaining someone’s watching So Hyeon-jung now. Does Mr Noh panic? Not really. They just decided to go full spy mode, building these super tiny magnet cameras.
These little things go everywhere—like, trust issues level 9000. Seems normal in this world.
There’s this random bit where Taejoong thinks a girl named Eunbi in the shop is a thief, so he knocks her down. Major oops. Noh shows up, says, “That’s my daughter, chill.”
Instead of forgiving him, Eunbi tells Taejoong he needs to pay a ton of money every week for her dad’s help. Savvy.
Hwang struts over with a burned-up corpse, shows it off to Yang, and tries to pin it all on Taejoong—plus accuses Mr Noh of hiding fugitives. It never ends here.
At So’s hair salon, Taejoong wants to be the shadow, but only finds her daughter. So, turns out, went to return a phone. Taejoong? He’s on it, running to the shopping center to stop whatever comes next.
Chaos Never Sleeps: Episode 8’s Race
Raiding Mr Noh’s house, Yang and Hwang don’t find Taejoong. Eunbi is beyond annoyed—these guys just make themselves at home. Elsewhere, So comes face-to-face with a mysterious woman to return a phone.
Right as things get weird, Taejoong shows up and just yanks the phone out of her grip.
Turns out, that’s a big deal. Yohan finds out, and instead of fixing it, goes berserk and trashes a sculpture So made. It’s like anger management isn’t a class in this drama’s universe.
Later, Taejoong calls the mystery woman, basically ransoms the phone for cash, but says she should pay the delivery guy instead. This is the type of shady deal that happens ten times a week in this show. Taejoong follows her right to a place where staff experiment with random objects.
Chaos Breaks Loose
Not weird at all. Elsewhere, Yohan’s cleaner—the lady who solves problems violently—finishes off a worker who didn’t get the phone back. Then, she shows up at So’s salon, acts like she wants a haircut, but suddenly just attacks So right there.
Plot armor saves, since Taejoong jumps in. While that mess is happening, Yohan faces Do-kyung and his dad. Do-kyung taunts Yohan all smugly, but Yohan doesn’t even flinch. He’s busy with his big “plan” and just gives a weird smile.
Now Taejoong and Noh play babysitter. They hide, So and her daughter with Eunbi, while murder and mayhem go viral on the news. Watching TV, Taejoong realizes someone else got targeted by the same shadowy bunch.
So he visits the factory. The place looks like a cheap horror movie—everyone is dead, including Woo Bin-nam, whose head is tossed around, and stacks of cash are sitting beside the bodies. Taejoong grabs the envelope, then throws it aside in disgust.
Just when things feel over, the episode flashes Taejoong’s prison photo on a screen. The text changes, revealing that Baek Do-kyung is the one they want.
Also, there’s a weird message, like a taunt: track down Baek Do-kyung with the account name d__kyung. That’s the setup for next week’s chaos.
Who Is This Show For?
If you love intricate conspiracies, morally grey characters, and shows that don’t hold your hand, The Manipulated is for you. Fans of Vagabond or The Devil Judge will feel right at home.

Jumping-In Point?: “While this episode is action-packed, the complex web of betrayals is hard to untangle. We strongly recommend starting from Episode 1 to fully appreciate the chaos.”
Episodes 9 and 10 of The Manipulated will show up on Disney+ on November 26. Honestly, there’s no telling what will happen next.
