Twelve K-Drama Episode 6 Recap: Hellmouth Opens, Spirits Rise

Twelve Episode 6

The penultimate episodes of a great fantasy drama have one job: to raise the stakes to a point of no return. This weekend’s Twelve didn’t just raise them; it shattered them completely.

Episode 6 is a masterclass in payoff, delivering long-awaited revelations and a character death that fundamentally changes the game.

This recap breaks down the key moments, their significance to the overall mythology, and what it all means for the impending finale.

In Twelve Episode 6, shifts between the past and present, adding weight to the battle that is unfolding. The episode begins centuries ago, long before they were on Earth.

Mirr and Kang-Ji were chasing spirits, but they could not catch them. They were puzzled, asking why the spirits were moving in the daytime. Kang-Ji grew frustrated and scolded Mirr.

Twelve Episode 6

She warned him to stop seeing O-gwi. If he continued, it would bring harm not just to O-gwi but to everyone. She said she would not ignore it again.

The scene then jumps back to the present. O-gwi wakes suddenly and attacks Sa-min. He demands to know if Sa-min has taken his soul stone. The fight is brutal.

O-gwi picks up Marok and hurls him aside like nothing. Sa-min gathers himself and launches his own attacks. But O-gwi reveals his dark wings, flying across the battlefield and dodging every strike.

His power is overwhelming. He stabs Sa-min with ease and taunts Marok, questioning why he sealed him in the first place.

Twelve Episode 6

At first it looks like Sa-min is finished, but he awakens. He manages to escape O-gwi’s assault and pulls Mirr away with his wings, fleeing into the distance.

The battlefield grows quiet, and the fight has only just begun.

Marok’s Death

After the battle, Marok finds the strength to call Taesan. His words are heavy. He explains that Sa-min has awakened Haetae’s powers. Sa-min will not hesitate to use humans as his tools.

He begs Taesan to open the Hellmouth before it is too late. His voice fades, his body broken, but he does his duty until the very end. Marok dies mid-call.

Twelve Episode 6

Taesan and Won Seung rush to the tunnel and find Marok lying lifeless. Their grief is raw. His body dissolves into air, leaving only loss behind. The death shakes everyone, but Taesan refuses to be crushed.

Marok’s death is more than a shocking moment; it’s the key that unlocks the final act. His final act was one of duty, not vengeance.

He provides the critical intel on Sa-min and pleads for the Hellmouth to be opened as a last resort, understanding the catastrophic risk.

This reinforces a core theme of Twelve: the unbearable weight of responsibility and the sacrifices required to uphold it.

His dissolution into air is a poignant visual metaphor for an angel returning to the cosmos.

Opening of Hellmouth

Rage fuels him. He grabs a hammer and strikes the sealed Hellmouth over and over. After countless hits, the gate shatters.

Twelve Episode 6

The Hellmouth opens wide. A surge of dark energy spreads, but so does power for the angels. Each angel reclaims their weapon and their strength. Taesan, now their commander, gives them one day.

They must find Mirr. Angels must kill Sa-min and O-gwi. They must seal the Hellmouth again before the world is lost.

The world outside shifts. The air grows heavy. The sky darkens. Glass shatters, leaves crumble, silence fills the streets.

Humans begin to change into evil spirits, twisted and hollow like zombies. Sa-min uses his new power without mercy.

The story slips into another flashback. It shows how Haetae once fell into corruption.

He had become an evil spirit when Taesan was still a child. Taesan could not bring himself to end him back then. Marok had tried, but he was too weak.

Haetae rose in power and faced the four angels: ox, rooster, rabbit, and goat. In the end, Taesan had no choice but to kill him. Each angel used their seal to lock away Haetae’s powers.

But now, with the Hellmouth open, that seal no longer holds. The stakes are higher than ever.

Questions Heading Into the Finale: With the angels’ power restored, will they be enough against a fully-powered Sa-min and O-gwi?

What is Sa-min’s true endgame? Is it pure domination, or does his rescue of Mirr hint at a more complex goal? Can Taesan lead without being consumed by the rage we see when he shatters the Hellmouth gate?

Will the series dare to have a tragic ending, or can the world truly be saved from an open Hellmouth in just two episodes?

Ending

Only two episodes remain in Twelve. The story has reached a breaking point where sacrifice and vengeance cannot be avoided. The loss of Marok, the rise of Sa-min, and the fragile balance of the angels leave the future uncertain.

Every moment counts now, and the next steps will decide whether the world is saved or consumed by spirits.

New episodes of Twelve air every Saturday and Sunday on KBS2 in Korea. For international fans, Twelve is available on Disney+ in select regions. Availability may differ depending on where you live, so check your local platform.

With the final two episodes coming soon, viewers are left to wonder if Taesan and the angels can stop Sa-min before the world collapses completely.
