(G)I-DLE Minnie Unleashes HER: A Solo Debut That Sizzles

(G)I-DLE Minnie

On January 21, 2025, Minnie, a member of the K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE, made her solo debut with the album HER. The highly anticipated album showcases her creative range with seven tracks that she wrote and composed herself. It marks a significant milestone in her seven-year career as an artist.

In a recent interview,  the Thai singer expressed her excitement and gratitude for this opportunity. “Since this is my first solo album in seven years, I worked really hard to prepare it. I’m very excited and looking forward to it. I’m grateful to the fans who waited for so long,” she shared.

A Personal Touch in Every Track

HER is a deeply personal project. Minnie revealed that the songs reflect her journey, with some tracks written several years ago. Tracks like “Valentine’s Dream,” “It’s Okay,” and “Obsession” were penned four to five years ago. She described the album as a “personal diary,” chronicling her growth and experiences over the years.

Minnie’s involvement in the album went beyond writing and composing. She was determined to showcase the many sides of her personality. “If I were to release a solo album, I wanted to be hands-on as much as possible. While on the team, my image was dreamy and charismatic. With this solo album, it’s all about my voice from start to finish. I wanted to show various vocal expressions,” she explained.

The album features a mix of genres, including funk, ballad, and R&B, each reflecting a different side of her. “I wanted to try things I couldn’t do during group activities. The tracks have diverse colors—dreamy, vivid, kitschy, and emotional,” she added.

The Meaning Behind “HER”

The title track, HER, is a powerful statement about self-reflection and identity. Minnie wrote the song from a third-person perspective, focusing on how she perceives herself and how others might see her.

“’HER’ is about how when I look at myself, or when the public looks at me, they think of me in a certain way. But there are other sides inside that aren’t always visible. All these different sides are me, and I want to show them all,” she said.

Minnie admitted that choosing the title track wasn’t easy. She was deeply attached to all seven songs and struggled to decide which one should take center stage. “I worried a lot about the title track. Even when I was recording, I wanted every track to be the title. But after completing the mastering process, I felt confident that this song could encompass the whole album,” she revealed.

At 27, Minnie has opened a new chapter in her artistic journey. This album is more than music; it’s a reflection of her growth, talent, and individuality. With her unique voice and vision, she invites listeners into her world, sharing stories and emotions that are authentically her own. Fans can look forward to seeing more of Minnie’s creativity and passion as she continues to explore new horizons in her solo career.
