HYBE has taken another big step in its global journey. The company has set up HYBE India Entertainment Private Limited, its official Indian subsidiary. This marks HYBE’s fifth overseas headquarters, following Japan, the United States, Latin America, and China.
The subsidiary was formally registered on September 9, 2025, with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in Mumbai. Its Corporate Identification Number is U59201MH2025FTC456555.
The registered capital is ₹87 crores, equivalent to approximately $10.4 million USD. The office is located in Borivali West, Mumbai, Maharashtra. The company is listed under motion picture, video, sound recording, and music publishing activities.
This move signals a clear intent. India is not just another overseas branch for HYBE. It is a key part of the company’s long-term plan to expand its reach.
The official mission statement says it all: “Where voices of India become global stories.” The goal is simple but ambitious—find talent in India, nurture it, and connect it to the world.
Why India Matters for HYBE
India’s size alone makes it hard to ignore. The country is home to more than 1.46 billion people, making it the most populous in the world. Beyond the numbers, the music market is booming. India is now the second-largest music streaming market in the world, with around 185 million users, only behind the United States.
At the same time, the K-pop wave has been building here. According to data from the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, K-pop streaming in India jumped 362% between 2018 and 2023.
That growth is hard to ignore. Still, the picture is not entirely rosy. Some reports suggest that music streaming users dipped slightly in 2024, dropping from 185 million to 175 million. This decline came after platforms began limiting free-tier access and pushing for paid subscriptions.
Even with that slowdown, the opportunity remains huge. HYBE sees India as a market that can not only consume K-pop but also produce stars who can compete on the world stage.
HYBE India will focus on several things right away. First, it will conduct local auditions to discover new talent. These will likely attract thousands of hopefuls from across the country.
Second, HYBE will set up training programs similar to the ones used in Korea but adapted for Indian culture and language. Third, the subsidiary will support the activities of HYBE’s global artists like BTS, SEVENTEEN, and TXT in the region.
But HYBE’s plan is not just about artists. The company is also bringing its full package of services to India. That means production, management, marketing, and concert planning will all be part of the local setup. For fans, this raises real hope of large-scale K-pop events in India.
HYBE India fits into the company’s broader multi-home, multi-genre strategy led by Chairman Bang Si-hyuk. The idea is to build strong local hubs that can connect back to the global system while reflecting each region’s unique culture.
How This Fits Into HYBE’s Global Push
This move follows other expansions by the company. HYBE China launched in April 2025 in Beijing. HYBE Latin America opened in November 2023 with offices across Mexico City, Los Angeles, and Miami, & HYBE America grew through the acquisition of Ithaca Holdings, while HYBE Japan has been a core overseas branch for years.
The results from these expansions have been mixed but mostly successful. For example, HYBE’s U.S. girl group KATSEYE managed to enter the Billboard Hot 100. That achievement showed the model can work outside Korea. India has now become the next testing ground.
The choice of Mumbai makes sense. The city is often called the entertainment capital of India. It is home to Bollywood, music labels, theaters, and live performance venues. The infrastructure is already in place. For HYBE, this is the perfect environment to grow a new entertainment hub.
Fans have been buzzing online ever since the news broke. Many speculate about concerts by BTS or SEVENTEEN finally happening in India. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the possibility feels stronger now than ever before.
As of September 23, 2025, HYBE India is officially registered and operational. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs records show its status as “Inactive for e-filing,” but this is common for newly formed companies still completing paperwork.
The subsidiary currently has three directors: Woochang Lee, Harshit Jagdish Shah, and Dahae Lee.
HYBE India: A New Era for K-pop and Indian Music
The establishment of HYBE India Entertainment Private Limited marks a milestone for both HYBE and K-pop fans in India. It signals not just a business move, but also a recognition of India’s role in shaping the future of global music.
What happens next depends on how HYBE balances its grand vision with India’s complex music industry. Training Indian idols will not be simple.
Building loyalty among fans requires patience, cultural sensitivity, and more than just flashy debuts. The hype is real, but the work ahead will be even more demanding.
If HYBE succeeds, India may not just be a market. It may become a producer of global stars, reshaping how K-pop is defined worldwide. If it fails, the company risks repeating the mistakes of others who rushed into India without fully understanding its scale and complexity.
For now, the foundation is laid. The excitement is high. HYBE’s arrival in Mumbai could open a new era where Indian voices are not just heard locally but sung across the world.
