Stray Kids made history once again at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), held on November 12. For the second year in a row, the group secured a prestigious win, this time earning the Top Global K-Pop Artist Award. Last year, they were the first 4th-generation K-pop boy group to take home the Top K-Pop Album Award, and their momentum hasn’t slowed down.
The members expressed heartfelt gratitude to their fans, known as STAY. They said, “We owe this honor to STAYs around the world. Your unwavering support allows us to stand on such a big stage and achieve these milestones.”
Captivating Performances Steal the Spotlight
At the BBMAs, Stray Kids delivered an electrifying performance for the second consecutive year. They performed “Chk Chk Boom” and “JJAM,” two tracks from their mini-album ATE. Their set showcased their incredible talent, teamwork, and stage presence.
The choreography for “Chk Chk Boom” stood out with its seamless transitions from solo moments to a powerful group dance. Meanwhile, “JJAM” brought a light-hearted and groovy energy, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
Record-Breaking Success on the Billboard Charts
Stray Kids’ rise in the U.S. music market has been nothing short of phenomenal. Starting with ODDINARY in 2022, the group has consistently topped the Billboard 200 chart with five consecutive albums: ODDINARY, MAXIDENT, ★★★★★ (5-STAR), 樂-STAR, and ATE.
Their latest title track, “Chk Chk Boom,” has also made waves, ranking third on the Hot 100 chart. This follows the success of “Rock (樂)” from 樂-STAR and their English single “Lose My Breath,” featuring Charlie Puth.
Awards and Recognition Beyond Billboard
Stray Kids continues to dominate at global music events. They won Best K-Pop at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards and earned accolades at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards and the iHeartRadio Music Awards earlier this year. Their song “SLASH,” featured on the Deadpool & Wolverine movie soundtrack, even earned a nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack at the 67th Grammy Awards.
Upcoming Release: SKZHOP HIPTAPE
Stray Kids are not slowing down. On November 13, they will release their new album, SKZHOP HIPTAPE 合 (HOP), featuring the title track “Walkin On Water.” This project merges their signature style with hip-hop, offering fans a fresh and innovative sound. The title track was produced by Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han, who were part of their production team, 3RACHA.
With this release, fans are eager to see if Stray Kids will top the Billboard 200 again, potentially achieving their sixth consecutive No. 1 album.
