Kim Soo Hyun Releases 150 Military Diaries to Defend Against Dating Allegations

On September 30, 2025, Kim Soo Hyun’s lawyer, Ko Sang Rok from Phil Law Firm, shared about 150 handwritten diary entries and letters.

These were written by the actor during his mandatory military service from October 2017 to July 2019. The release aims to counter claims that Kim Soo Hyun dated late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was underage.

On April 6, 2018, he wrote: “I thought you, who still pay attention to and make an effort for my clumsy words and actions, are so lovable. I really want to write your name, but I can’t because I’m such an attention seeker. I really want to write your name. I’m saying I love you.”

On July 30, 2018, another entry read:

“I’m definitely going to go on a trip with her this time next year. I’ll do everything new and never done before with her. We will go far for a long time. I want to cherish and love each other deeply, but sometimes fight and make up. There are so many things I want to experience.”

The August 3, 2018 entry said:

“I think I’m treating her better than I did before enlisting. I’m not using my energy on anything else — I’m focused only on her, thinking of her, wanting her, waiting for her. I keep missing her and wanting to see her.”

The Military Diary Evidence and Legal Defense

Ko Sang Rok argued that these 150 letters show Kim Soo Hyun was dating another woman from 2016 to spring 2019. This contradicts claims that he had a romantic relationship with Kim Sae Ron during her minor years.
